Everything under one roof.

AMS is an independently owned centre for the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal problems that follow an injury, an accident or an illness. Physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, osteopaths, massage therapists, acupuncturists and psychologists work as one team here, so the assessment, the treatment and the paperwork happen in the same place rather than across four appointments in four buildings.

Care for the whole injury.

Identifying the source of the problem as precisely as possible is the step that decides everything after it, so assessment is not rushed here. Treatment then draws on whichever of the disciplines below your recovery actually needs, and the therapists treating you talk to each other about it.

Rehabilitation

Specialized care

Sports medicine

A complete sports medicine team of sports physicians, certified physiotherapists, athletic therapists and massage therapists, for professional and amateur athletes alike. The focus is diagnosis and rehabilitation of the injury, a safe return to the sport, and prevention of the next one.

Massage therapy

Massage therapy works both as a treatment in its own right and as part of an injury recovery plan. Our therapists draw on Swedish, shiatsu and therapeutic techniques and tailor the session to what you are dealing with, from stress to a sports injury.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture has a wide range of medically accepted therapeutic uses, from reducing back pain and tendonitis pain to helping with digestive problems and smoking cessation. Our acupuncturists work alongside the rest of the team rather than in isolation.

Counselling psychology

Registered clinical psychologists are on site, working as part of the team for injury, illness or accident recovery, or as primary therapy providers for problems ranging from depression and anxiety to family counselling.

Braces and orthotics

Orthotic devices for feet, ankles and other support needs, designed by experienced orthoprosthetists and fitted with a physician involved, so the device fits well, stays comfortable and gives real support.

Home physiotherapy

Our newest service brings the clinic to you, with one-to-one treatment in your own home for patients recovering from an injury, managing a chronic condition, or simply looking to move better. No travelling, and no unfamiliar environment to deal with first.

Getting started

Less to arrange first.

Work and road accidents billed directly

AMS is a network provider for the CNESST, the SAAQ, Veterans Affairs Canada and the RCMP. If you are covered by one of them for a work injury or a road accident, you do not pay us: we bill them directly, and the CNESST or SAAQ paperwork is taken care of here.

Tell us what happened

Direct billing to most private insurers

We offer direct billing through eClaims and providerConnect, which between them cover 85% of Canadians who hold private insurance. Depending on your plan we bill your insurer for their portion instead of you, and if you are insured elsewhere you get a receipt to claim with.

Ask about your coverage

No prescription needed to start

A doctor's prescription is welcome but is not mandatory. If you are unsure whether physiotherapy is what you need, you can book a free consultation with a physiotherapist first, at either the Côte-des-Neiges centre in Montreal or the Bord-du-Lac centre in Dorval.

Our team

The people who treat you.

AMS is not an institutional setting. It is an independently owned and operated centre, and the whole team believes that treating patients as people is part of the healing formula, from how you are greeted at the desk to how your therapist talks to you. Every provider here is licensed in their own discipline and keeps training in it.

Physiotherapists

They evaluate the nature of the problem through mobility, strength, posture and perception testing, set rehabilitation goals with you, then design a personalized plan around them. They make sure you understand the exercises and manipulations they recommend and why, because roughly half of the work of a recovery happens outside the clinic.

Physicians

Our physicians have different areas of expertise, in general medicine, sports medicine and orthopedic surgery, which is what makes complete care possible without a referral out. They see athletes of every level and patients of every age.

Occupational therapists and osteopaths

Occupational therapists hold a bachelor's or master's degree in occupational therapy and work on the mobility and autonomy of daily life. Our certified osteopaths identify neuromusculoskeletal, visceral or cranial restrictions through precise palpation and treat the pain and the loss of mobility that come with them.

Massage therapists, acupuncturists and psychologists

Massage therapists work with patients from pediatrics to geriatrics across Swedish, shiatsu and therapeutic techniques. Our acupuncturists combine traditional Chinese medicine with conventional medicine, and our psychologists focus on the interaction between physical illness, chronic pain and mental health.

Success stories

In our patients' own words.

Your first visit

How care starts.

There is no referral to chase and no long wait to describe your problem to someone. Here is what happens between getting in touch and being treated.

  1. Call or book online

Call (514) 300-1031 and we will find an appointment that suits you, or book online. If you are in a lot of pain right now, say so on the phone and we will try to fit you in straight away.

  2. Bring five things

Your medicare card, your insurance card if you are insured, a list of your medications, anything your doctor has given you, and a prescription if you happen to have one. Arrive ten minutes early, or download the first visit form and fill it in beforehand.

  3. A full functional assessment

The first visit is a thorough functional investigation to identify the causes of your symptoms and measure what your movement is limited by. You leave with an action plan, and treatment may involve one provider or several, depending on what will produce the best outcome.
